This appliance is used to hold the position of the maxillary molars, maintain the leeway space, and prevent molar extrusion when the patient is in the transitional stage of development. By using a wire that follows the vault of the palate, the possibility of a lingual arch wire interfering with the normal eruption of one of the bicuspids is eliminated. The appliance is comfortable and does not interfere with normal speech.
