Tandem Appliance

The Tandem Appliance is designed for orthopedic correction of the growing Class III patient. The appliance design is more comfortable than conventional devices because it is worn intraorally. This fact greatly increases the rate of compliance when compared to the facemask variety of Class III correctors.

Additionally, the traditional facemask variety protrudes the maxilla with pure extra oral anchorage with minimal dentoalveolar changes, whereas the Tandem is an intra oral tooth borne anchorage system that combines skeletal and dentoalveolar movement.

The basic Tandem Appliance consists of three separate units; an upper appliance (active or inactive), a lower appliance (fixed or removable), and a traction bow. Design modification is simple for both the upper and lower arch portion of the appliance; therefore, any combination of fixed or removable appliance designs may be requested.
