This appliance is appropriate when a temporary crown is not needed and a fixed approach is not possible. Forced eruption in this case is accomplished by using a very effective helical coil spring that is connected directly to a temporary post. Though not the solution for all cases, innovative removable appliance designs such as this can greatly expand the clinician’s options to initiate forced eruption. Note - Inflammation must be controlled prior to initiating tooth movement. If it is not, forced eruption may contribute to the deepening of an osseous defect.
