A Mini-screw is similar to the palatal screw in design and function. This “mini” version is used effectively for single tooth movement. Although this screw adds additional bulk to the appliance in the area of the expansion screw itself, it is typically preferred over a micro-screw as it is not as fragile and provides more surface contact with the tooth needing movement.
