Lower Tongue Thrust Inhibitor L

2115

This tongue-thrusting appliance is used to prevent the tongue from exerting a labial force against the lower anteriors. It can be attached to bands on the primary or permanent molars and is often used in conjunction with anterior bracketing when closing anterior open bites. When the bite is closed, the prongs can be reduced in length, but should be kept in until lip seal has been established. In severe open-bite cases, it may be necessary to place prongs like these on a banded bicuspid-to-bicuspid lingual retainer. Note: With all habit appliances, an opposing model and bite relationship are required.
