Soft Nightguard U/L

Soft splints have been advocated for patients who cannot tolerate wearing a hard acrylic splint, but still need some protection. They are believed to be particularly useful when treating those who suffer from repeated or chronic sinusitis that results in extremely sensitive posterior teeth. This soft splint is constructed from bonded sheets of injection-molded, cross-woven vinyl, which provides extra strength and resistance to distortion. Note - If a parafunctional activity like bruxism is initiated by an occlusal condition, it is unlikely that a soft splint would improve this condition. In fact many clinicians believe that a soft material will only enhance any abnormal frictional forces created during function. Another reason not to use this material as a splint is that it is almost impossible to adjust.
