Many patients complain that their teeth feel loose after periodontal surgery. This may occur even in those patients who do not clench or grind. When mobility does exist, a simple vacuum-formed hard splint can be used to stabilize the arch and enhance healing. This splint only covers the teeth and does not rest on the tissue at all. Because it is clear, it can be worn 24-hours a day. Note - This splint is meant to be used only for a short period of time after surgery. It is very thin and is not appropriate for patients who grind their teeth.
