The Modified Sved appliance is similar to a number of Deprogrammers that are currently being used to treat clenching and bruxing which often results in TMJ dysfunction, damage to the dentition, and headaches. The small anterior discluding ramp is designed to contact only the lower central incisors.
This results in the nociceptive trigeminal inhibition response that prevents clenching and grinding. The advantage of the Modified Sved’s design is its size and comfort. The appliance is retained by using Adams clasps on the first bicuspids and caps the anterior teeth for stability only.
The Adams clasps allow the Doctor to optimize retention and comfort for their patients.
