The Basic Maxillary Crozat typically clasps the first permanent molars and is used primarily for lateral development. Once this is accomplished, auxiliary attachments, e.g. lap springs, labial bows, pins, putters, appropriate inter-maxillary elastic hooks, can be added to the basic appliance to continue treatment as required.
