The 3D® Lingual Arch is a very versatile modular component. The adjustment loops in the wire (referred to as “Activators”) make this lingual arch much more than just an arch-length, space-maintaining device. The Activator is a diamond shaped loop that is easily adjusted with flat-on-round Light Wire Pliers. Proper adjustment of the Activator loops can provide a number of different movements, e.g. anterior-posterior arch length increase, buccal expansion, distal molar movement, molar torque or tip, and molar rotation. The fact that this arch wire is removable from the bands makes adjustment quite easy.
